Dr. Ash Oveissian ( Prosthodontist )
Dr.Ash graduated from his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2002 after 7 years of study. He then worked as a general dentist from 2002 to 2013 in regional QLD and NSW, before undergoing another 3 years of study, specializing in Prosthodontics at Sydney University and he obtained his doctorate in clinical dentistry.
Since 2016, he has been a Prosthodontic Consultant and a registered specialist. Since the completion of his study, Dr.Ash has published several peer-reviewed publications, has been very involved in the education of the future generation of dentists and has lectured both nationally and internationally.
Dr.Ash then went on to open our beautiful practice ( Wide Bay Central Dental clinic ) in Hervey Bay QLD in 2017. In his spare time, Dr.Ash enjoys spending time with his friends and family, trying out different cuisines, and working on research projects.
Dr. Poyan Barabari ( Prosthodontist )
DDS, MSc (Public Health), DClinDent (Prosthodontics), FDS RCS (Eng), FHEA
Dr Poyan is a specialist prosthodontist with extensive international training and experience in advanced restorative, implant, and aesthetic dentistry. He is dedicated to helping patients restore their oral health, comfort, and confidence through personalised, evidence-based care.
Dr Poyan completed his Clinical Doctorate in Prosthodontics at the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom, one of the leading centres for restorative dentistry. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Higher Education Academy and has been recognised as a specialist prosthodontist in Australia, the United Kingdom, and New Zealand.
Before relocating to Australia, Dr Barabari held senior academic leadership roles in the United Kingdom, including Head of the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Program at the University of Central Lancashire, where he was responsible for the clinical education and training of future dentists. He has also taught and supervised dental students and clinicians at several leading institutions across the UK and Europe.
His clinical interests include full-mouth rehabilitation, implant-supported restorations, aesthetic smile reconstruction, management of worn or complex dentitions, partial and complete dentures, and minimally invasive restorative dentistry. His treatment philosophy focuses on preserving natural tooth structure whenever possible while delivering highly aesthetic and long-lasting results.

Dr. Alan Zhu ( Periodontist )
Alan graduated dentistry from The University of Melbourne in 2017 and completed his periodontics specialist program at The University of Queensland. During this time, he was awarded the ADAVB Evident Student Research Prize, RACDS Primary Examinations Commendation award and was most recently, the AOS Young Lecturer Competition winner.
As a clinician, he has experience working in rural NSW, Brisbane and Melbourne in private practice. Concurrently, he also supervised dental students at Charles Sturt University, The University of Queensland and The University of Melbourne.
Alan lives and works in Melbourne and visits to deliver easier access for locals to high quality specialist care. He hopes to provide a comfortable, holistic, and informed experience to all patients to achieve the best outcomes possible.
In his spare time, he plays basketball, tennis and enjoys trying new experiences with his family and friends.
Dr. Tiago Braga ( Endodontic Treatments )
Dr. Braga graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science in December 2003. In 2007 he completed a Specialization Course in Endodontics, Sao Paulo, Brazil followed by an extension in Endodontic Microscopy at PERF – Pacific Endodontic Research Foundation, San Diego, CA.
He has also a Postgraduation Degree in Endodontic Microsurgery at Pennsylvania University, Philadelphia. Over the past 14 years, Dr. Braga has been dedicated to teaching endodontics.
From 2014 to 2023 he has worked at the School of Medicine and Dentistry Griffith University. He is the former coordinator of the Master of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics and now is a clinical delegate of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics Course. Dr. Tiago Braga also lives and works on the Gold Coast, he visits our practice here at Wide Bay Central Dental to provide locals endodontics treatments.
In his spare time, he enjoys surfing, travelling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Dr. Chris Farrelly ( General Dentist )
Dr Chris Farrelly graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Dundee. He worked in Glasgow for several years before deciding to move to Melbourne in 2008.
Dr Farrelly has completed a number of postgraduate courses, including a highly regarded course in full mouth rehabilitation, in addition to courses in dental implantology and is currently in the second year of his Post Graduate Diploma in this field.
This allows him access to the most up-to-date academic research and surgical techniques. Dr Farrelly’s scope of practice includes complex cosmetic dental treatments such as implant dentistry, porcelain crowns and veneers, cosmetic analysis, including Digital Smile Design.
Dr Farrelly has a strong focus on communication and says, “The most crucial element in delivering complete and high-quality Dental care is communication. The ability to properly diagnose and explain treatment options in terms each patient will understand is paramount.”
Dr Farrelly understands that dental treatment can sometimes be slightly stressful for patients, and he endeavours to create a relaxing environment where patients can feel both comfortable and informed. Patients warm to his affable manner and delightful sense of humour.
Dr. Chi ( General Dentist )
Dr Chi (Siqi) graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science (Honours) at the University of Queensland. She has been living and practising dentistry in Brisbane before she decided to move to Hervey Bay.
Dr Chi enjoys anything creative and artistic. She crafts personalised treatment plans in collaboration with patients, ensuring alignment with their goals, health, and comfort. As a compassionate dentist, she creates a welcoming and stress-free environment, transforming anxious visits into pleasant experiences with her gentle and kind approach.
Dr Chi regularly attends dental courses around Australia to stay up to date with the latest dental technology and knowledge. In her free time, Dr Chi enjoys spending time with family and friends and trying new cuisines.
